Qualitative and critical participatory action research in psychology, psychology of gender, history and theory of psychology, theories of gendered division of labor, theories of epistemological ignorance, feminist epistemologies.

My research examines the relationships between psychology, social inequalities, and social movements from a feminist, critical participatory action, and historical perspective on psychology. On the one hand, I have inquired how the discipline of psychology has contributed to the legitimation and reproduction of social inequalities. On the other hand, I have analyzed how social movements, e.g., the women’s movement, have altered how both psychologists and citizens understand human experience and agency. My research focus in the last four years has been critical participatory action research with counselors and (former) clients of women’s counseling centers. Collaboratively, we are investigating the emotional challenges women's counselors face between administrative labor and counseling, as well as the "triple shift" of paid labor, unpaid care and household labor, and administrative burden intersectionally disadvantaged individuals face in their everyday lives.
