Meike Watzlawik is Professor of Development, Education and Culture at Sigmund Freud University (SFU) Berlin, Germany. She holds a diploma in psychology and completed her doctorate and habilitation at Technische Universität Braunschweig. As a former Alexander von Humboldt Foundation fellow, she conducted research at Clark University (USA) within Jaan Valsiner’s cultural-psychology network. Her research focuses on human identity development—particularly during adolescence, within sibling and twin relationships, in professional contexts, and across diverse cultural settings. A further focus of her work is sexual and gender diversity, to which she contributes through empirical research and applied scholarship. Watzlawik employs both quantitative and qualitative methods and has published widely as both editor and author. At SFU Berlin, she heads the Department of Psychology and directs the master’s programme in Clinical Psychology. She is licensed as a psychotherapy practitioner and is committed to advancing interdisciplinary dialogue and fostering inclusive academic environments for students and colleagues alike.
